After A Levels Byron joined a global leather finishing supplier, working on customer finishing problems in the late 80's. After three years he progressed to a Technical Service Representative working with leather goods manufacturers (Footwear, Upholstery, Belts Bags and Accessories) the length and breadth of the UK. In fact, the company hierarchy gave him the company's largest account, Clarks Shoes Ltd, at the tender age of just 22!
After progressing through the ranks after 13 years (1998) Byron was recruited by a global brown shoe corporation to look after their worldwide finishing operations at four tanneries and five shoe factories spread around the world. His flair for design, fashion and a chemical brain meant that the shoecare was added to his remit after his first year.
After four years of paying Danish tax, Byron returned to the UK in 2001 and was contacted by several of his clients from his earlier days. His previous employer had closed their UK operation and the clients were struggling to obtain the products and services.
It was then that Byron formed Corium Solutions Ltd to manufacture and supply a range of finishing products and services for shoemakers, upholstery companies and leather goods manufacturers.
The Future
In June 2007 Corium opened their manufacturing unit in Dongguan, China to assist UK retailers being able to obtain the same high quality finishes at their suppliers in China which gives Byron the chance to meet up with his adversaries.
Corium celebrated their 7th anniversary this year and has grown to 9 full time employees in the UK and 30 in China. Corium have a first class 2,000 sq.m remedial facitlity and laboratory located in The Midlands, a manufacturing facility in Stafford and a manufacturing and supply plant in China .
Corium plan to open satellite sales offices in Shanghai, China and Ho Chi Min City, Vietnam within the next 12 months to serve their customers better worldwide.
